It's book review time 📚💕

Hi Reader,

I've got another big batch of book reviews for you this month.

I'm in the process of making a new master list of book reviews. Every book review gets a dedicated page.

One of the things I've been loving about the new format is being able to rate a book's different components separately.

For example, Plot = 5 stars, Character = 4 stars, Writing = 5 stars, Moral value = 2 stars.

That way, you get a more nuanced picture that'll hopefully help you decide if you want to read the book or not.

Also good to know: I tend to be generous with my stars.

Without further ado, here's what I read in May.

  • The Q by Beth Brower. You’ll love it if you've got a soft spot for the Victorian Era, the publishing biz, and romance.
  • The Queen's Gambit by Beth Brower. You’ll love it if you enjoyed Megan Whalen Turner’s Queen’s Thief series.
  • High by Adam Roberts. You'll love it if you're in the mood for a short, hard sci-fi.
  • The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. You’ll love it if you want to hear about the power of God in action in the lives of real people in real trouble.
  • A River in Darkness by Masaji Ishikawa. You'll love it if...well, you can’t love a book about another’s real-life suffering.
  • Room One by Andrew Clements. You’ll love it if you’re looking for a gentle kids’ mystery with a discussable ending.
  • Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein. You’ll love it if you’re craving a Willy Wonka-type adventure (but with less candy and more books).
  • The Master of Tides by Jamin Still. You’ll love it if you want to read a hidden gem by an author with a Christian worldview.
  • Goblabet: An Alphabetical Murder Mystery by Ken Priebe. You'll love it if you enjoyed the movie Labyrinth, and you can't resist a puzzle to solve.
  • Mari in the Margins by Rebecca J. Gomez. You'll love it if you're charmed by the little-big dramas of childhood.

Meet Millie Florence, middle-grade author

If you're thinking, Wow, that author looks young, that's because she is!

Millie published her first novel at the tender age of 13, and she's gone on to publish two more since—one of them is an upcoming release with Sarah MacKenzie's Waxwing Books.

I hope you enjoy getting to know her on Library Binding.

She's a ray of sunshine!

📚📚📚

As always, I'll leave you with one irresistible indulgence—it's like a dollhouse for your bookshelf.

Your devoted,

Michelle
